What is cat 5 or cat 6? - installing cat-6 in the home

Hello, I build my new house. The electrician asked me if I have a Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable lines will be installed in your house? I do not know know what that means Cat 5 or Cat 6th I think it's the same Ethernet cable. (I know, and I) broadband signals over a telephone line and a modem / router with wireless Internet on a laptop. Well, what is the point of installing a separate line for Cat 5 cable? Can someone describe the benefits of the Cat 5? Should I spend $ 100 extra for the installation of CAT5 line to my new home? Cheers!
